Derek Mulligan
Derek is the founder and driver of this program. The inspiration for this project came from John S. Pittock’s CareAid International water projects. Derek’s hard work and determination has kept this initiative.
Formerly a Chartered Town Planning Surveyor, Derek retired from Hamilton Osborne King in 2000. Since 2005 he has been actively involved in a variety of projects in Zambia and over the last 5 years has concentrated exclusively on projects which provide drinking water in schools, which would otherwise have no chance of water being provided by the Government.
Pat Faulkner
Pat Faulkner has extensive experience working with, and advising Companies, Partnerships and Individuals on financial restructuring, refinancing, banking, and strategic commercial planning. He works very closely with the Organisation or Individual, adopting a strong “hands-on” approach, and actively participating in the entire process from commencement to completion.
He is a highly motivated, results oriented senior executive with considerable commercial, managerial and financial experience gained over many years working with a wide range of Companies, including Riverdance, where, as Group Chief Executive, he was responsible for devising and implementing the Global Commercial Strategy and Irish Rail, where he was appointed to bring Senior Independent Finance and Accounting expertise to the Board.
In particular, he has gained extensive knowledge and experience in building a global business, negotiating large successful overseas contracts and has a broad range of international business contacts. Colm MacCarvill
Colm is a lawyer by profession, previously working as a litigator and in various in-house roles. Currently Ireland Site Lead, Company Director and Assistant General Counsel at Squarespace.
An Independent Director at Sports Dispute Solutions Ireland and served as a Non-Executive Director at The Anne Sullivan Centre for people who a DeafBlind for a period of 9 years (ending May 2021). Previously served as chairperson and board member for the Finglas drug addiction service, Sankalpa.
Darina Mulligan
Darina is an executive and leadership coach. She has 20 years commercial experience designing and delivering development programmes across the FMCG, Tech, not-for-profit and food industry in Ireland and the UK.
Darina works with teams and individuals to establish empowering, results oriented and meaningful goals that deliver sustainable growth and success. She is passionate about cultivating a culture of wellbeing to enable dynamic leaders and thriving teams for the future.

Fr. Martin McGowan
Fr. Martin McGowan is an Irish priest who graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree. He worked for one year as an Engineer, before joining St. Patrick's Missionary Society ("Kiltegan Fathers") in 1988.
Following a period as vocation director from 2007 to 2012, and a sabbatical from 2012-2013, he returned to Zambia to work in Kalingalinga, Lusaka from 2013 to 2015 as an assistant priest, and as coordinator for the St. Patrick's Missionary Society in Zambia.
Presently, Fr. Martin is parish priest in the Parish of the Good Shepherd, Moomba, which is in Lusaka Province, Chibombo District.
Fr. Martin worked with John Pittock from the inception of CareAid, and was pivotal in advising on appropriate projects to be supported, and in monitoring and supervising projects as they progressed to completion.
Bright Chimbwe
Bright Chimbwe is our Site Supervisor. He also installs the hand pumps and constructs the concrete protective apron around the pump.Bright has abackground in light engineering, and has attended training courses on water issues.
Jane Mutambo
Jane Mutambo is our Research Assistant responsible for carrying out the annual survey to identify a short list of schools with a need for clean drinking water. Jane has third level training in psychology, sociology, and social development.
